The programme document for Leibniz ScienceCampi can be accessed via the Leibniz Competition website. All Leibniz institutes can submit applications.
Leibniz ScienceCampi can currently be funded over two funding phases, each lasting four years, with an annual funding volume of up to 300,000 euros.
A key condition for funding is the binding agreement by the institute and collaborating universities and/or home state to provide a comparable amount of co-financing, which means that a Leibniz ScienceCampus can usually receive at least 900,000 euros per year. This is intended to guarantee sufficient overall funding. The co-financing can also take the form of material and staff contributions (provision of infrastructure and personnel).
The procedure for applying, for assessing applications and for deciding which projects to fund encompasses the following stages:
When submitting their expression of interest, the institutes nominate four potential reviewers. Only such persons may be nominated who can assess the project without any risk of bias. The criteria for potential bias can be found in the separate information leaflet. The persons nominated by the institutes should not be informed about their nomination. There must be no consultation between the Leibniz Institutes and potential reviewers.
Applications and all accompanying documents should be written and submitted in English in order to enable international assessors to participate in the assessment process. The chairperson of the SAS will decide on any potential exceptions.
Applicants whose application has been denied can submit a revised application in the next application round. Calls for applications for Leibniz ScienceCampi are announced every two years. If an application is denied in spring, the earliest possible resubmission therefore is in summer of the following year.
