The Equal Opportunity and Diversity Working Group (AKCD) is dedicated to implementing the goals established in the Leibniz Association’s statutes. The equality officers of the Leibniz institutions and individuals who are involved in diversity issues at the institutions regularly exchange ideas within the working group.
The working group is represented by the Council of Spokeswomen that consists of ten elected equality officers from all sections as well as the spokesperson for the Diversity Network and her deputy.
The Council of Spokeswomen meets three to four times a year to deliberate statements and recommendations to the Executive Board regarding the implementation and promotion of equality and diversity. The members of the Council of Spokeswomen further inform the equality officers of their respective sections about the Council’s work. They consult with them on issues relevant to equality and bring concerns and requests from their sections to the Council.
The Chair of the Council of Spokeswomen attends the meetings of the Senate and General Assembly of the Leibniz Association as a guest. She is a member of the „Allianz der Gleichstellungsbeauftragten in außeruniversitären Forschungseinrichtungen“ (Alliance of Gender Equality Officers of Non-University Research Organisations, AGbaF).
Diversity liaisons from the institutions of the Leibniz Association come together in the Diversity Network. A core group and thematic focus groups aim to promote diversity-sensitive structures within the Leibniz Association. An annual Diversity Network meeting is held.
The Annual Equal Opportunities Conference of the Equality Officers serves as a platform for professional development, exchange of expertise, and networking. It is hosted alternately by the AKCD and the Leibniz Association headquarters.
Thematic working groups of the Council of Spokeswomen develop initiatives and documents to promote equal opportunity within the Leibniz Association. Within the Diversity Network, focus groups address various aspects of diversity.
